Each year hundreds of crime survivors all across the country gather to heal together, share their stories, and advocate for change. This is the largest gathering of crime survivors in the country, and it takes place during National Crime Victims Rights Week.
Survivors Speak 2021 is hosted by Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice, a national network of crime survivors joining together to create healing communities and shape public policy.
For its eighth year, Survivors Speak will convene a National Virtual Conference + Week of Actions from April 18-24, 2021. Now more than ever, the voices of crime survivors are critical.
Sunday, April 18, 2021: Healing Vigil Day of Action
Join survivors across the nation as we amplify each others’ voices and honor our loved ones. Participants will hear from faith and other community leaders, service organizations, and fellow community members acknowledging the experience and needs of crime victims. Regional vigils will be held in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Monday, April 19, 2021: Social Media Monday
On Monday of National Crime Victims Rights Week, join Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice on social media as we amplify the voices of survivors, sharing words of hope and encouragement. Our members are experts on healing through action, and on this day, Survivors SPEAK.
Tuesday, April 20, 2021: Crime Victims Policy Day
Join us as we roll out our National Crime Victim Agenda, based on our members’ greatest policy priorities. We will bring together key state leaders from across the country to discuss a vision to advance reforms for victims of crime. Members will also have opportunities to engage with their elected officials.
Wednesday, April 21, 2021: #WellnessWednesday
CSSJ is partnering with wellness providers, chapter leaders and other survivors to launch #WellnessWednesday! Join us as we engage in healing activities online to promote our wellbeing and share resources and collective care tools to implement at home.
We will also have our Signature “Wellness Wednesday Conversation” focused on healing through action.
Thursday, April 22, 2021: Survivor Meet & Greet
On Thursday, join in a survivor meet and greet experience with music, games, activities and so much more. This is a time for survivors to connect and experience the joy of a Healing Community.
Friday, April 23, 2021: Phone Banking + Prep Day
Our Friday advocacy day will help to mobilize fellow crime survivors across the country. Join our efforts by phone banking and reaching out to victims across the country to ensure they have the opportunity to have their voices heard and to hear more about our national Crime Victim Agenda.
Saturday, April 24, 2021: Survivors Speak National Virtual Conference
The Survivors Speak National Virtual Conference offers a chance for crime survivors across the country to come together in community. We will celebrate, advocate, learn, and heal together.
